Carnival begins with J'Ouvert.
J'Ouvert begins at 2am Monday morning, with
huge and small steel pan bands and "rhythm sections"
circulating all over town until way past sunrise.
Plenty of dancing (wining and chooking), and
traditionally everyone smears
paint, mud, and grease on each other
in the J'Ouvert revelry!

Shortly before J'Ouvert,
partying at Smokey and Bunty's
one of the world's great rum shops in St. James.

Jack got quite a lot of paint and mud applied.
And he applied quite a lot of it too!

A Carnival "posse" is the group of friends
you do Carnival with.
Here's our posse in costume on Carnival Tuesday.
We were our own Masquerade Band!
